mission
THE CENTER FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL LITERATURE is a physical space and a website dedicated to the historical and theoretical development of, and the exploration and experimentation with, Three-Dimensional Literature as it is defined by its founding essay Towards a Three-Dimensional Literature. From this central starting point, Three-Dimensional Literature will be further defined and refuted; expanded and contracted; developed and deconstructed by contributing artists and writers.
THE CENTER FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL LITERATURE one day hopes to present online exhibitions of related artists' work while featuring a directory of historical and contemporary literary artists. 3DLIT.ORG will publish two online imprints: the JOURNAL OF THR3ORY-DIMENSIONAL LITERATURE which will present the ideas of historical and contemporary philosophers, theorists, artists, and historians, both developmental and critical to the concept of Three-Dimensional Literature; and ON THE SAME PAGE dedicated to artist interviews. 3DLIT.ORG will also offer a comprehensive chronology leading towards Three-Dimensional Literature; list current exhibitions, readings, and lectures; and provide a directory of links to related web sites.
THE CENTER FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL LITERATURE will invite specialists and artists to contribute monographs, essays, and projects which situate an artist or a particular work or body of work into the context of Three-Dimensional Literature; the JOURNAL OF THR3ORY-DIMENSIONAL LITERATURE will invite guest editors to explore the definitions of (but not limited to) Art, Literature, Dimensionality, Spatiality, Linearity, Narrative, Reflexivity, Allography, Semiotics, and Phenomenology; and ON THE SAME PAGE is a perpetual interview process conducted through questions and answers posted by forum, email, or postcards to selected artists.
THE CENTER FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL LITERATURE currently does not accept unsolicited submissions, although nominations or suggestions of an historical or contemporary nature that fit within the boundaries of the mission are welcome. After the initial construction process, the ultimate mission is for 3dlit.org to act as the center of an open forum expanded by community participation. |
